Chapter 1: The Littlest Goth
Chapter 1:
The Littlest Goth
Five years into their marriage, Cornelia had found herself expecting! Gunther and Cornelia were overjoyed, and could not wait to welcome the newest Goth into the world. They planned to spare no expense in educating their child, and keeping it happy. They would give it the best of everything, because, of course, they could.
Nine months later, in the dead of winter, a handsome son was born, with dark eyes, porcelain skin, and a full head of black hair! He already looked like a Goth should! Both parent’s were over the moon!
They named him Mortimer Hector Goth, a big name that they were confident he would grow into! And he did…
Mortimer could read on his own by the age of four. He liked to read his favorite stories aloud to his beaming parent’s. Like his father, young Mortimer showed natural musical ability, and had a particular appreciation for the sounds of Baroque chamber music, and classical orchestra’s. At 6, he asked to take piano lessons, and so Gunther provided him with the most talented tutor money could buy. Within days, young Mortimer was outshining the piano teachers older students!

Mortimer always enjoys a good book, and has many to choose from in his family's extensive library collection.

Mortimer occassionally dabbled in art on his mother's easel. This masterpiece is called "Flight of the Hummingbird".
Mortimer, like his mother Cornelia, reveled in the beauty and mystery of the outdoors, and he took a particular liking to the smallest of creatures, insects. He would go out into the garden with Cornelia and catch bugs, and then identify them in his “Young Entymologists” Field Guide.
Cornelia and Gunther thought themselves the luckiest parents, to have such a bright, and naturally driven son. Yet, they were careful never to push young Mortimer too much in his tender age, but rather praise him greatly on all of his endeavors, and grant his every educational request.
But Mortimer was not purely a child prodigy. He was still a little boy, after all, and he did have one friend. Her name was Bella, which meant “beautiful”. And, she certainly was beautiful! Bella was always dressed to the nines by her mother, Jocasta Bachelor, who absolutley loved having a little girl!
But no matter the dress or the shoes, Bella could climb tree’s, catch bugs, and fish in the stocked Goth pond equally well alongside Mortimer. Her vivacity brought out Mortimer’s playful side, and his keen mind helped Bella grow into a more inquisitive child. The two had the best of times…
